Secure and Optimize WordPress: 3 Simple Steps with WPDistrib
Take control of your site with three essential settings: protect access to your admin panel, secure your data, and prepare your site for any eventuality with reliable backups.
🔐
Strengthen Your Passwords
Create strong passwords to block any intrusion attempts.
🛡️
Secure Admin Access
Protect access to your dashboard with a unique and secure URL.
📤
Back Up Your Site
Keep a copy of your site to ensure its longevity and reliability.
Why Are These Settings Essential for Your WordPress Site?
Your site is online and accessible to everyone, making it a potential target for intrusion attempts. Securing admin access is essential to protect your data and content. Finally, performing regular backups ensures your site can be quickly restored in case of technical issues or attacks.
💡 Tip: Regularly update your passwords. A recent password is less likely to be compromised.
Protect and Secure Your Site in 3 Steps
1. Strengthen Your Admin Password 🔒
In the Users menu, select the Admin account and replace its password with a strong code (letters, numbers, symbols). Store this password in a secure place.
2. Change the Login URL 🛡️
Go to Settings > WPS Hide Login, and replace “login” with a custom word (preferably complex). Save this link, as it will replace the default “/wp-admin” URL.
3. Back Up Regularly 📤
Using UpdraftPlus, go to Settings > UpdraftPlus > Backup Now. Check the essential files (themes, plugins, database), and save the backup to a secure location such as the cloud or a local drive.
Your Turn!
Now it’s time to protect and secure your site by following the three key steps you just learned.
🎉 Congratulations on Your Progress!
